What You Should Know About TRUST SEALS

One common seal is that of the BBBOnline which shows your website visitors that you are a member. They can then click the logo to verify that you are using the seal legally.

Are Trust Seals effective in relieving online shopper’s fears? You bet they are! In fact, according to a TNS study, 86% of online shoppers agree that it is important that your website carry such seals and 65% shop only at sites they know and trust. Need I say more?

Now what most consumers may not realize is that there are THREE main types of Trust Seals—security, identity and privacy. Security trust seals certify that the website is safe from hackers, identity trust seals verify that the business exists as described and the privacy trust seal certifies that the privacy policy is accurate and legally compliant.

What’s more, if a website carries only a privacy seal this means that the website can still be insecure and the company may be fake! So while online shoppers feel safe giving their email information because of the privacy seal, their credit card information may not be safe from hackers.

In other words, in order to be completely covered a website should ideally have all three types of seals to build total consumer confidence.
