Because of our background in Internet security we were able to work with the FBI and law enforcement agencies to bring down a large Romanian phishing ring. We provided ample evidence of phishing and hacking attempts which eventually led to the indictment of cyber criminals with links to global organized crime.
According to the FBI report, these fraudsters worked mainly out of Romania and went phishing for credit card numbers and then sent this ill-gotten personal information to their partners in the US. These US criminals then used the credit card numbers to access their victim’s accounts through ATMs. A percentage of this fund was then wired back to the Romanian suppliers. (Go figure!)
